I will start my posts about play ideas and suggestions with play ideas I collected from various pages for 2 year-olds. These ideas usually don’t require a lot of preparation or can be done together with your child. I’ve tried most of these myself and they’re great.
The Big Paper Man
For this idea you need some big piece of paper. Ask your child to lie flat on it so that you can draw around her. And then dress the little man. Ask your child what clothes we should put on. And maybe you have some old fabric pieces left over to be used here.
Dress-Up
Pretend play is always a lot of fun, and most people have got some old clothes to spear for their children to wear and dress up: Scarfs, old shoues, hats, shirts and dresses – the more colourful the better. Or maybe you have some old costumes left over.
Where does this go
Use your latest IKEA catalogue and cut out some furniture and som rooms and then let your child sort various furniture into the rooms, it’s prepared quite quickly and it will last you for a long time.
Obstacle Course
Build an obstacle course in the living room, use cushions, chairs, blankets – anything.
Hide and Seek
Play hide and find objects or play hide and seek and let your child hide.
Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes
Especially good on the swing. Point to body parts and say their name when your child swings towards you, and encourage her to repeat.
This is a recap of my most popular ideas for general play. I’m probably going to go on typing more notes about play ideas for 15 month-olds and 3 year-olds.
