The Science Museum

The Science Museum

Today Josie and me had the stupid idea to go to the science museum – same as about 1 million other families…

Anyways, she really enjoyed it. We had a look through the spacebits and were singing Zoom Zoom Zoom We’re Going To The Moon while we were looking at rockets.

Then we went downstairs and played in the toddler area for a bit. We played with water and listened to loads of funny noises and Josie practised playing the drums.

Friday

Friday

After having spent all of yesterday in company of 3 other Mums the little one and me were off on our own again today.

This morning we were going to meet another Mum in Stoke Newington which unfortunately didn’t happen. We still went to the place we had agreed to meet at. It is a child-friendly café called “That place on the corner”. There was some sort of toddler music group on called Caterpillar Music. It was £5.50 and it was seriously not worth it. The person who’s doing the thing really can’t sing and the music from the CD is – sorry – crap. I can’t believe I paid so much money for that. Afterwards we quickly went to the playground on Newington Green which is simply poor for toddlers.

Afterwards we did something more enjoyable. We went to Archway Leisure Centre for a bit of splashing around. It’s £3,90 for non members and the child goes free. If you are looking for a swim partner for your child please contact me and then we can maybe go together and let the kids play together. Archway Leisure Centre was loads more child friendly than Highbury Pool. The family changing rooms were big enough to get the buggy in and the pool has got a sloping beach which is nice for the little one as she can stand and run around. It is simply a beautiful building – just a bit chilly if you have to stand or sit around in the shallow area. I will have a read about activities with children in pools to see if there is anything we could do to encourage her to get used to the water.

What about you? Do you use any swimming aids with your child? I’ve been thinking about getting something but I am not sure what to go for or whether they’re safer without it (false security?).

Tuesday

Tuesday

Nappies changed: 4, Snacks: 2, lunch: pepper and mushrooms with pasta.

I don’t know why but summer decided to return to us – for one day anyways. The temperatures were scorching and I was sweating my bottom off pushing the pram :)

This morning we tried “Sparkysongs” in Islington. I really enjoyed Richard’s show and the little one like it too. Unfortunately it’s quite pricy and prices will even go up from next week to £5 per session. That’s a bit of a turn off.

The songs presented were fairly classical ones. The wheels on the bus, Bah Bah Blacksheep and so on – but they liked it.

In the afternoons we were hoping to go to the paddling pool in Clissold Park which was shut… so we went to the playground instead. A pretty normal day.

Kensington Gardens

Kensington Gardens

Another one of my favourites in Kensington Gardens in Hyde Park. The playground (Princess Diana Memorial Playground) there is awesome and keeps the kids busy all day. I’d only recommend going there if the weather is good and bring some towels as there is always a lot of water involved. It’s got a huge pirate ship replica and baby changing facilities are available too.
