Forty Four Image Consulting

Forty Four Image Consulting

I recently had the chance to work with a friend who is planning her own business start up in Image Consultation. I am currently designing a logo and website for her.

For the logo I collected ideas in relation to her future work and her person and this will again be reflected in the webpage. Thinking about colour and image consultation I immediately thought of fabric which is the basic idea of my logo. Throughout the design process we’ve tried 3 different variations of the logo. One very male and corporate looking, one slightly more female and one very organic looking shape resembling a person. After a long discussion we’ve both decided on the middle way, to still attract male customers, but be female enough to convince – well – females.

Pictures will follow up tomorrow, due to sleepiness.

Edit: So as promised finally the pictures to this entry. I chose this very square version as my customer was planning to attract male as well as female clients and businesses. In Germany things are still a bit different and females who work in business often still need to behave and look very much like their male peers, so a very straightforward looking logo was our goal. The colours are the colours of the “Autumn type” which is my customers colour type, so the logo also reflects her as a person. The squares were inspired by fabric samples cut with fabric scissors.

Her critique concerning this logo, was that it was too square.

So I went on and did a second one less square and more of a resemblance to a persons shape.

She thought this was still not square enough and wanted a even more female shape. I pointed out that I am not sure that male customers will still be attracted as much by an even more female shape, but went and followed her suggestion anyways, to see what I can come up with.

She thought this was too female and we finally agreed on a version that resembles the second logo I designed for her. I changed some slight bits here and there and redid the shapes again.

For the website I picked up again on the idea of fabric, having the navigation at the top designed as little straps of fabric. When it comes to the background colour of the page my dear friend decided to go with grey and a light gradient fading to white.

Again, pictures will be uploaded tomorrow, I’m nearly snoring.

Edit: Here’s my idea for the homepage.

This has been a really good chance for me to work on a real project, get some hands on experience and learn to deal with critique from a customer.

Now it’s time for an extensive eight hour eye treatment.
